Fire-Bot

The Fire-Bot was a university mechatronics design project.

The objective of the robot was as follows:

The “firebot” is an autonomous robot designed to locate and extinguish small fires within an area, using non-disruptive or destructive means. Location of fires is done through an infrared sensor, with a supplementary ultrasonic sensor to improve collision avoidance. A large fan is used instead of water or other fire distinguishing substance, in order to reduce risk of damage and mess. The fan is propelled by a brushless motor, in order to extinguish the fires. The design is mounted on a tank-style chassis, providing locomotion over rough terrain. The design could also be applied to provide dynamic cooling of overheating components.
